At the Proton Therapy Center in Prague we offer magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography in combination with computed tomography (PET/CT). We offer examinations not only to cancer patients, but also to those who have a referral from their physician.

The waiting time is typically short, ranging from 2 to 3 weeks. We will be happy to notify you if an earlier date becomes available.

 We perform the following examinations:

  • MRI of the head (for example brain including MRI angiography, brain spectroscopy),
  • MRI of the limbs, joints, spine (cervical, thoracic, or lumbar),
  • MRI of soft tissues,
  • MRI imaging of the neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis,
  • MRI angiography,
  • MRI spectroscopy,
  • MRI of the biliary and pancreatic ducts without endoscopic intervention (cholangiopancreaticography),
  • MRI of the breast.
  • PET/CT of the torso using the radiopharmaceutical fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG), administered intravenously,
  • PET/CT of the torso using the radiopharmaceutical fluorocholine (FCh),
  • PET/CT of the torso using radiopharmaceutical 18F-fluciclovin (Axumin),
  • PET/CT of the brain using the radiopharmaceutical fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG),
  • PET/CT for radiotherapy planning.

Our workplace is equipped with:

MR Siemens MAGNETOM Sola 1,5T
70 cm open bore MRI scanner with a state-of-the-art gradient system, the Quiet Suite mode, and a wide portfolio of universal and new anatomy-adaptive coils for improved patient comfort.

It offers higher diagnostic confidence and advanced examination techniques (diffusion and perfusion imaging, spectroscopy, tractography and much more). The configuration of the device is suitable to challenging body regions to provide excellent homogeneity.

It is also equipped with a unique configuration for direct radiotherapy planning, based on the MRI image of RTiS Synthetic CT.

PET/CT GE Discovery 600
Large bore PET/CT scanner with gantry width 70 cm and field-of-view in full width gantry.

It is equipped with LightSpeed VCT, which, in addition to the attenuation-correction and localization image, enables the performance of a fully diagnostic post-contrast CT. It is usually not necessary to send the patient for a separate CT scan. Reliable BGO detectors of the PET part ensure optimal use of the applied dose of radiopharmaceutical and sufficient sensitivity even for small pathological foci, for example in the detection of metastatic nodal involvement.

The device is primarily dedicated to oncological diseases and radiotherapy planning, but it can be fully used, for example, for the diagnosis of inflammatory and rheumatic diseases.

If you have any health concerns, you first need to visit your general practitioner or another doctor with a specific specialization (orthopedist, surgeon, etc.). If your doctor finds that a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or a positron emission tomography in combination with computed tomography (PET/CT) is right for you, they will provide you with a referral to undergo the examination.
